The Department of Meteorology says that there may be scattered showers or thundershowers in the afternoon or night in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Eastern and Uva Provinces and Galle, Matara and Polonnaruwa districts today.

He added that some rains may occur in the western and southern provinces in the morning as well.

They also said that measures should be taken to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
